So, What Do You Have To Say Against Me?
So, What Do You Have To Say Against Me?
A few weeks ago, my wife, Lynette shared some things with me to help me be better at handling people thinking and saying false things about me. I think that others could benefit if they add to their lives what Lynette shared with me.
I was bothered that people see me as dead wrong when I'm not. I felt like my reputation was being destroyed. She said that I need three things:
#1. I need to know that I am the “Glade guy” (very interested, in the sinful nature, in getting the air freshener, Glade, into my system somehow). I am also the guy in the world that searches through cow poop to get the mushrooms, so I can eat them without cleaning them off. And much more...
In light of that, my attitude should be, “I am the Glade guy.” Without God, I wouldn't be able to make it past an air freshener in my house.
Now the questions for me and for us in light of who we are and how convicted we are of the extent of our wretchedness is: NOW, AM I TRYING TO SAVE MY REPUTATION? Am I trying to not look bad? Do I know who I really am?
“I am (fill in the blank for you).”
I am the Glade guy.
#2. I need the attitude, “If God doesn't care, then I don't care.” In this case, that others are tarnishing my “reputation,” as if that were possible.
#3. God will be glorified either way. If people think and speak wrongly of me, God is glorified. If people speak correctly about me then God is glorified in that as well. I can be a fan of that.
Perhaps this is helpful to some.
